"Joining the Revolution: Strategies for Marketing Yourself"
Sponsored by: Leadership & Management Section
Co-Sponsored by: Corporate Information Services Section

Register for a Speed Mentoring Session at MLA '07

Have you been thinking about applying for a better job, but are uncertain of how to showcase your skills and experience? If so, come to Leadership & Management Section program “Joining the Revolution: Strategies for Marketing Yourself” at MLA ’07 on Tuesday, May 22, 3:00-4:30 PM. This will also feature LMS’ first-ever MLA speed mentoring event, co-sponsored by the Corporate Information Services Section and the New Members Special Interest Group (SIG).

All are invited to attend the first half of the session. Julie Cohen, a Philadelphia-based career and personal coach, will offer suggestions on how to overcome common stumbling blocks faced by job searchers.

The program will continue with “speed mentoring” sessions for pre-registered participants. Wikipedia defines ‘speed dating’ as “an event where men and women are rotated to meet each other over a series of short “dates,” usually lasting from 3 to 8 minutes.” LMS can’t help with your love life, but we can provide pointers on career strategy. Registrants will have the opportunity to meet individually with one or more senior managers with hiring experience in health sciences libraries for ten-minute “speed mentoring” sessions. These sessions might include job-hunting advice, or evaluation of your resume. The number of sessions per person will depend on the number of registrants and available mentors.

TO REGISTER AS A SPEED MENTORING PARTICIPANT, PLEASE EMAIL YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION TO BARBARA EPSTEIN, bepstein@pitt.edu, BY APRIL 27.
